What a social media manager does, day to day

They work your working day, so the rhythm follows your audience. A typical week:

  • Every day: publish and check scheduled posts, reply to comments and DMs in your brand voice, flag anything sensitive (complaints, refunds, press) to the right person on your side, and watch for trends worth using.
  • Through the week: engage with the accounts, creators and communities your customers follow, and log content ideas from the questions people ask.
  • Weekly: build next week’s calendar, write captions and hooks, and brief the designer or video editor with copy and references.
  • Monthly: a report on reach, engagement, follower growth, clicks and the posts that drove them, with a short list of what to change next month.

Your social media manager works inside your accounts with the access you grant. You keep ownership of every profile, page and ad account, and can remove access at any time.

Content and social in one seat, for lighter volume

Not every brand needs a separate writer and social media manager. If you post three or four times a week on two channels and publish one blog post or newsletter, one person may be able to cover the writing and the social calendar.

This is not a fixed package. It is a role we scope with you. Tell us your channels, posting frequency and writing load, and we will tell you plainly whether one person can carry it or whether you need two. It is still one full-time person, priced from the same rate card and fixed in your written quote. When volume grows, split the role: a designer, writer and social media manager together cost from $1,600 a month.

For e-commerce brands

For a store, social is half marketing and half customer service. Your social media manager plans launch and promotion calendars, reposts customer content with permission, tags products in posts, and answers product questions in comments and DMs, while routing order and delivery issues to your support team. Pair them with a dedicated video editor for a steady supply of Reels and TikToks. More on creative teams for e-commerce.

For agencies

An agency can add one social media manager per cluster of client accounts. They work under your brand, in your tools and inside your clients’ channels, so clients deal with your agency. A senior manager can own strategy and reporting across several brands while juniors run the calendars. See white-label teams for agencies and dpoint for agencies.

Your hours, your peak times

dpoint runs 24/7, and your social media manager works your own working day. For a New York business that is a dedicated evening and night shift in India: 9:00 to 17:00 in New York is 18:30 to 02:30 India time during US daylight time. A London day of 9:00 to 17:30 is 13:30 to 22:00 in India during British Summer Time, and a Dubai day of 9:00 to 18:00 is 10:30 to 19:30. Replies go out while your customers are awake, not the next morning.

Evening and weekend posts are scheduled ahead. If you need someone watching comments at weekends, raise it when we scope the role so it is written into the quote. Read more about working US, UK and Gulf hours.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire an offshore social media manager?

Through dpoint, a dedicated, full-time social media manager costs $500 a month at junior level (1 to 3 years' experience), $800 at mid level (3 to 6 years) and $1,200 at senior level (6 years or more), all-in. A US social media manager costs roughly $4,600 to $8,200 a month fully loaded. There is no recruiting or setup fee, and the price is fixed in writing before you start.

What does an offshore social media manager do day to day?

They publish and check scheduled posts, reply to comments and DMs in your brand voice, plan and write next week's calendar, brief your designer or video editor, and report monthly on what worked. They work your hours inside your accounts, so replies go out during your working day.

Which social platforms can they manage?

Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X and Pinterest, in whatever mix you run. We shortlist people who have worked on your main platforms and in your scheduling tools, such as Meta Business Suite, Later, Buffer, Hootsuite or Sprout Social. You keep ownership of every account.

Can one person handle both content writing and social media?

For lighter volume, sometimes. If you post a few times a week on two channels and need one blog post or newsletter, one person may be able to cover both. It is a role we scope with you rather than a fixed package, and we will tell you plainly if the workload needs two people. It stays one full-time person, priced in your written quote.

Do they create the graphics and videos as well?

A social media manager can make simple templated graphics in tools like Canva and light edits for Stories. For a steady supply of Reels, TikToks or ad creative, add a video editor or a graphic designer, each from $600 a month, so the manager can focus on planning, posting and community.

Will they reply to comments in our time zone?

Yes. dpoint runs 24/7 and your social media manager works your own working day, US, UK or Gulf. For US clients that is a dedicated evening or night shift in India. If you need weekend comment cover, raise it when we scope the role so it is written into the quote.

Can an agency use an offshore social media manager white-label?

Yes. They can work under your agency's brand, in your tools and inside your clients' accounts, with NDA and IP assignment signed before day one. You can start with one manager and add more as you sign retainers.

Tell us the roles. We'll build the team.

A short intro call, a written plan, and shortlisted people in days, not months. No retainer to find out if we’re a fit.
